Applied Ecology, Inc. is growing and we’d like to welcome Cindy Whitten to our team!

Cindy graduated from University of Central Florida with a B.S. in Environmental Studies and a GIS certificate. During her time at UCF, she worked in the Coastal and Estuarine Ecology Laboratory as a field researcher and restoration technician where she assisted in restoring declining oyster reefs and shoreline stabilization. She assisted in monitoring oyster recruits on restoration reef material and previously restored shorelines. Ms. Whitten was also involved in identifying, collecting data, and researching seagrass impacts in the Indian River Lagoon. Additionally, she interned at Brevard County assisting the Stormwater Program in their asset inventory effort.

Her interest includes, oysters, mangroves, stormwater, water quality, harmful algae blooms, public outreach, ecosystem services species, and ecosystem restoration. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, oyster gardening for Restore Our Shores, being outdoors, boating, motorcycles, art, and researching ancestry and history.
